Are you worried about your child's eating habits and their harmful effects? Are you concerned that your child might develop obesity? If you are searching for ways to improve your child's health, this clinical research may contain vital information for you.
A clinical trial was recently conducted to evaluate the effects of a natural unprocessed diet on the general health of children. As parents, we want our children to be healthy, happy and thrive in all aspects of their lives. One important aspect of their health is their lipid profile, which is a measure of the fats in their blood. High levels of certain fats, such as bad cholesterol, can increase the risk of obesity and several diseases later in life.
Childhood obesity is increasing worldwide. Childhood obesity often leads to adult obesity with its well-known side effects like heart disease. Shockingly, being overweight and obese is linked to more deaths worldwide compared to being underweight. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2019, 38.2 million children worldwide under the age of 5 years were overweight or obese. Most of these cases have been due to the consumption of unhealthy processed foods.
WHO suggests that improving eating habits in children might lead to a reduction in obesity. However, strong clinical evidence is lacking. A recent clinical trial has found that a dietary intervention consisting of minimal and unprocessed foods, high in natural fats can improve the fat profile of children and hence reduce the risk of obesity.
The clinical study included evidence from three previously conducted clinical trials. It included 267 children aged 1 to 16 years. 135 children were given a special natural diet while the remaining 139 children continued their previous eating habits. The dietary intervention included minimal and unprocessed foods, which are foods that are not heavily processed or refined. These included green vegetables, beef, cow's milk, and dairy butter. These children were given this natural diet for 3 to 6 months.
