Srividya Vasu is a research scientist with 12 years of experience in various aspects of research project design, execution, management, scientific writing, editing, and teaching in biological sciences. She has a proven track record of leading research projects on the pathogenesis of diabetes, pancreatic islet biology, gut hormones, clinical islet auto-transplantation, chronic pancreatitis, living-donor liver transplantation, and circulating biomarkers.
After completing doctoral studies, Srividya worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Diabetes Research Group, University of Ulster, Coleraine, NI, UK, where she executed proof-of-concept projects on anti-diabetic actions of selected bioactive peptides isolated from amphibian skin secretions and contributed substantially to research projects and laboratory management, budget management, graduate and undergraduate student supervision, and teaching human physiology and anatomy.
After moving to the USA in 2016, Srividya worked as a Visiting Fellow at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, where she executed research projects on pancreatic islet biology and intracellular signaling pathways. From 2018 – 2022, she worked as a Research Scientist at Baylor Scott & White Research Institute, Dallas, TX, where she supervised and coordinated FDA-regulated clinical activities related to islet auto-transplantation in the cGMP islet processing facility.
Srividya currently serves as a Review Editor at Gut Endocrinology, Frontiers in Endocrinology, and also a member of the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association. She has published 38 original research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the last 10 years.
Srividya finds immense pleasure in staying updated on the latest breakthroughs and advancements in medicine. Exploring and learning about new therapeutics and innovative scientific techniques excites her greatly, and she is constantly seeking to expand her knowledge in this field.
Apart from science, she also take pleasure in various other hobbies. Srividya finds swimming incredibly refreshing and invigorating, while painting provides her with a creative outlet to express her ideas and emotions. Music is a source of inspiration and relaxation for Srividya, and she often finds herself lost in the melodies of different genres.
