Visa Status/ Citizenship
At the time of application, candidates must be United States citizens or foreign nationals holding
one of the following visa immigration statuses: permanent resident (Green Card), exchange visitor
(J-1), temporary worker in a specialty occupation (H-18), Canadian or Mexican citizen engaging in
professional activities (TN), Australians in Specialty Occupation (E-3) or temporary worker with
extraordinary abilities in the sciences (0- 1). At the time of application and throughout the award,
an applicant must be employed by a U.S. institution.
Education and Experience
At the time of LOI, an applicant must hold a doctoral degree, have a full-time faculty appointment
or professional appointment at an academic institution ( or equivalent in research institutions not
formally associated with a university}, and have completed a training fellowship. Applicants may
be at any level of research experience; must be independent, self-directed researchers for whom
their institution must provide space and other resources customary for independent investigators.
The application must convey the commitment of the institution to the applicant and the proposed
research activities for the duration of the grant.
Institution
The research institution must be owned and operated exclusively for scientific and education
purposes, non- profit and located in the United States. Institutions eligible to participate include:
Nonprofit colleges or universities and domestic nonprofit scientific and research institutions.
Other info: This award will support independent investigators conducting clinical, laboratory, epidemiological or any groundbreaking project aimed at revolutionizing our understanding of lung cancer and improving diagnostic, clinical, and treatment methods.
